The Northface 100 Singapore 2012 Race Pack

I know I said last post previously but I just collected the race pack for TNF100 2012 Singapore and wanted to get this out before leaving. Gonna make it quick, gotta pack!

Sad that I am not running, but there is no way I am going to risk straining my leg as I think I might have just recovered. Lucky some kind hearted soul has decided to take over for me.

Okie enough griping, what’s in the bag?

In comparison to last year, see what was inside TNF100 singapore 2011 racepack.

Not much difference actually,

contents of TNF100 Singapore 2012 racepackSlightly better this year with:

  1. Rendang Sauce to cook curry
  2. Jacob’s original cracker biscuits
  3. GU energy gel
  4. Blister Shield
  5. Tiger Balm for muscle aches
  6. Men’s Health (should have asked for SHAPE magazine instead *grumble*)
  7. The drawstring bag
  8. The usual paper stuff

And lastly the tee

Last Year’s 2011 tee:

I really wish they would have put in more thought in the design of the tee and am not sure if they really have to use red as the official colour…. am guessing they do, but this will be going into the pile of tee shirts that I hardly use.

Sorry Northface, just being honest here. Tanks not tees are my choice of workout attire anyway. Nothing personal.

Sigh, will try again next year, read more about my TNF100 2011 run last year here

What’s in that can of soda? More than you think….

Last post for the week before I go overseas for a short trip.  Thankfully my sweet tooth doesn’t like soda.

What cake is round, palmed size and is a 1000 calories each?

The answer : A Mooncake!

Are you friggin kidding me? I just ate like half!

peony jade mooncake, mid autumn festival

According to Asiaone, this asian pastry has a whopping 1000calories!

I don’t even want to think about what I have to do to burn them off. I already posted on what it takes to burn off the fast food you eat and this just wins hands down.

For the uninitated, the mooncake is (according to wiki, read more here) ,  a Chinese bakery product traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival /Zhongqiu Festival. The festival is for lunar worship and moon watching, when mooncakes are regarded as an indispensable delicacy. Mooncakes are offered between friends or on family gatherings while celebrating the festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the four most important Chinese festivals.

Luckily for us,  it is eaten only once a year.

How big is a mooncake?

As you can see, it’s not very big, a mooncake is like the size of your palm. (in circumference)

We also have Yam filled mooncakes, or Teochew Orh-Ni mooncake. Traditionally,it has flakier skin and yam paste is used for the filling instead of lotus seed paste. This one is from Peony Jade restaurant and is healthier as it has Premium Fragrant Golden Pumpkin. Pumpkins are rich in α and ß carotenes, as well as folates, niacin, vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine), thiamin and others.

The date is out for Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon

Mark your calender for next year 24 February 2013, Sunday.

Registration details should be out by late Sept. Gonna go for it but only the shorter distances as I want to do shopping as well and I certainly can’t zip around Tsim Sha Tsui after running a full marathon!

Visit their site here for more details
